Advanced Grant Development Workshop

This three-day workshop is for the experienced grant writer who wishes to refresh his/her knowledge of how to capture the interests of federal, foundation, corporate and individual donors; develop working relationships with grant-makers; and submit winning proposals.  Workshop sessions will focus on the new trends in grant making and the behind the scenes decisions that determine funding.  Each session is specifically tailored for the professional who wishes to augment funding for his/her organization; the education, public sector and nonprofit administrator who writes proposals and who wishes to understand how to motivate and assist staff to develop successful grants; and the researcher who is interested in receiving funding for his/her research.

An integral part of this three-day workshop will be the expert advice from funding agencies, reviewers, auditors and successful grantees. Selected funding agency representatives will discuss what constitutes successful applications. Auditors, will overview compliance and the audit process. Reviewers will outline the nature of the review process. Successful grantees will exemplify winning proposals.

            Summary of essentials of grantsmanship and the major elements of professional proposals
       The art of responding to the funding agency's guidelines
       Proving the capacity of your organization to manage a grant
       Cultivating strong relationships with donors
      Obtaining political and community support
      Advanced proposal budget preparations – case studies
       Financial Issues for senior administrators
       Internal controls, model agreements, and timing issues
       Advice from donors - funding agency representatives will discuss what constitutes successful applications
       Advice from reviewers - overview of potential funding agencies and the nature of their review process
      Advice from auditors – assuring compliance and the audit process
       Advice from grantees  - successful implementation of proposals –
       One-on-one consultation to assess and improve each participant's proposal
